One more tonight...Have a question for ya'll

I know a lawyer who works with us who has family in Israel who is going to get me a bottle of soil from Calvary. I'm going to make solid wooden crosses and cut small grooves (like a pit I guess) in the front of them. I'm going to run a small brass ring through a small wooden loop that will be cut into the top and run a braided leather strap through it for a necklace. I'm going to fill the cut in grooves with the soil from Calvary and spray them with acrylic to seal them and give to to some members of my church for Easter. My question, would you like that as a gift if you got one? Oh and since the guy thats doing them for me is only charging me a dollar for each cross and the other material is very cheap I'll make as many as the soil which will be a prescription bottle full will allow which should be a lot since it will only require a little in each cross and give some away in here in a kind of pay it forward thing, sound fun?

I would cherish it forever!

Spray acrylic will apply very evenly - no problem there. Just be sure to hold the can about 12-14 inches away and give it several LIGHT passes of spray. I do this 2-3 times , drying in between coats. I would think the people surely would like to have a cross like this - probably one that could be hung somewhere on display ? Steve in so az

I would love one! They sound awesome! :)

That is a great idea and yes I would like one if I could get one. You might want to include like a little certificate telling where the soil came from

Sounds like a great thing in many aspects. Sometimes some people who pray feel they are more in touch with God when they have something physical in their hands, such as prayer cloths, coins from the time of Jesus' ministry, etc. Having a cross and having soil from Calvary would be one of those things many would love to have to help them focus as they pray.

From another perspective, it is good to do good things with one's hands and with the stresses from the job you have this would help you to keep your eyes on the future - our hope for His return - instead of what you deal with on a daily basis at work. That makes it a great thing for you too. A multiple blessing.

I think for myself it would make a wonderful gift too - given as a gift to people you know and love...and even those you don't know but share God's love with it would be a great gift to them as well.

You've got a great idea, a blessed idea, one that is good for many people in many ways.....I say Go For It. JMHO.
