One of my better finds

Hey folks. Well I found this quite a few months back, and I'm only getting around to posting it now.

There were all found in the same hole. As you can see from the pics, this is the remains of an old change purse or wallet of some sort. You can see the pieces of leather with the coin impressions in them still...as well as the marks on the coins from lying on top of each other. There are even fragments of a couple of old 2 dollar bills, as well as a couple of train tickets.

I dug these on a night hunt, and didn't have a light....but went back the next day to make sure I had every piece out of the hole. I couldn't believe it when I kept putting my probe back in the hole and getting hits. I finally dug a great big plug out and picked through the firt carefully.

Here is the total:

1919 Quarter
1911 barber dime
1907 V-Nickel
1882, 1911, 1916, 1917, 1918, and 1920 large cents
2 1920 wheaties
and a 1928 penny

This is by far one of my coolest finds to date. I am sure the person who lost this was kicking themselves in the ass. My only question is....how did it remain there un-noticed!? Or did someone bury it!?!?

Thanks for looking

..could of been dropped in the snow and hidden til the snow melted then just covered over the years??? Thats the fun, thinking about these finds and how they were lost. Great recovery. Jim

Ahhh....dropped in winter...never thought of that idea. Good thinking Jim, and you may be right!? I should try to find a date on those train tickets and see if they are dated to the winter months!
