One thing we all should remember..........

Several recent detectors have taken time to get the kinks worked out. If you think the new AT Pro can be improved I encourage posts in a courteous way to let the folks at Garrett know your concerns. Garrett has got a detector of interest so lets work with them to improve on a very good design. And to me the tone roll is a home run no matter if your a coin hunter looking to ID bottle caps or a relic hunter who hates digging plow points that come back as good high conductive signals with most VLF detectors. Patience everyone.

Yeah there are always kinks to iron out in any totally brand new design. Since Garrett has come out with a real winner we all need to work to keep it that way as it is going to be one "hot seller."

Bill.

Detector is great connectors are fine they are different but fine. They are a long proven design. Should be no problems with them. My only problem is the stock headphones are not very good.

Jason

I agree the connectors are not a problem just different. It was the paint on the threads of the detector. I used a needle nose pliers and gently moved the cap onto the threads. Once that was done the connector worked as a connector should. I think the connectors are in an out of the way place so we shouldn't be knocking the jack (Had to watch the way I worded this) away from the detector. So many people seem to not want to give Garrett any credit for coming up with a kind of neat, both a simple and a complex detector. Which means newbies or experienced detectorists can use it. I am going to keep mine.
I only had it out one time and I found a 14K gold plated ring and a few coins on the beach. I hit the entrance onto the beach and it is loaded with trash but I did dig one dime in the mess of trash with that big coil on. I couldn't dig more because the ground was froze solid and I was cold.
Thanks for reading and Happy Trails....Z
Here again is my finds:

I love the machine but do not like the headphone connection. It's great I guess if you are left handed but if you swing right handed, you have to wrap the cord around the back or in the front to get it out of the way.

Perhaps and adapter that could be taped to the pole that would allow you to plug in behind the arm rest or around the other side. That would be great.

Yeah these are design glitches that should have been caught and corrected early on but this is what happens when prototypes aren't sent out ahead of time and these small problems picked up on and reported.

Bill do not get me wrong I like you. But it seems some one is a little sour with Garrett for not getting them there detector a little quicker. Or is it just me.

Jason

My threads must have been doused in paint as the knurled knobs went on hard all the way to the point where I was worried I might strip the threads but I may have just gotten one of the more difficult or faulty ones. Ain't no big deal and I certainly wouldn't send it back for something that trivial - but it's just an unnecessary aggravation, especially when one is anxious to get the thing together and play with it.

Bill

It must be you. I ain't sour. After being a Garrett field tester for nearly 20 years, authoring a slew of field tests for the treasure mags, being field test editor for one of the treasure mags, and running this forum for the same length of time I'm more than familiar with production problems and delays and I knew in this scnenario that Garrett was overwhelmed and behind on deliveries and was trying to get units out to their paying customers as best they could and the customers come first. I really didn't mind waiting as our weather here has sucked for months, plus I've been dealing with some health issues, and I can't get out with it anyway. I still haven't been able to get out with the 350 much and field test it and I've had it for awhile. So you have misconstrued just about everything. :) I doubt that you have read any of the 400-500 magazine articles that I have authored over the past 25-30 years. I didn't just hop down off a turnip wagon yesterday.

Bill

Bill I understand not calling you out just sounded like you were a little sour. Sorry if I saw it wrong. Hope you get well soon and have many more years or detecting and writing. I do not read many of the mags just just one huge advertisement is all most of them are. I do buy a lot of detectors and try them out I like to decide for my self what I like. The AT pro is something we have never had before. It is going to be a good detector.

Jason

Yeah unforunately most of the mags have turned into a catalog of advertisers which is why I don't write as much as I used to. We had to cut our story sizes down to make room for ads and that sucks. The AT has been a long time coming and it's going to be quite a machine once all the users get all its quirks figured out and learn how to fine tune it. Garrett done good but nothing less than I expected. Thanks for the well wishes. I intend to get back on par real soon.
