oooops oh man i have troubles with coil :look:

Broke the ears off on the 3 kHz coil on my 705,both broke in half so I have a half - moon left on the coils ears.Did the best with super glue put rubber washers on the outside for some kind of support,could not do anything with the inside where the rods goes---too tight.Put the rod inside it fits snug ,but did not tighten------One thing for sure when I do need to use it ,it will have to be tighten,but if breaks again ANYONE HAVE ANY MORE IDEAS

I broke a coil ear and took a piece of lexan and cut it the exact size the regular ear, super glued to the side of the broken piece, then super glued the broken piece onto its broken half and the piece of lexan made it thicker but it worked. GL

On the next repair or if you re-do this one get a good 2 part epoxy or JBweld.
Super glue is great for some things but I don't think it has the strength of epoxy.

I know you bought it used but it wouldn't hurt to contact the manufacture to see if they can do anything for you even if it costs a little it might be better than what you have now. Never hurt to try

I used jb weld on my small coil i used as a crutch and it did not turn out ok i think jb weld has metal in it or my coil is just screwed
up.

I didn't know if it had metal in it or not. I do use JBweld, and swear by 5 minute epoxy for all kinds of repairs.

I used jb weld one time close to a magnet and it does have metal in it. That stuff completely ingulfed that magnet and looked like some kind of creature.

That is a problem with mine lab coils the ears are the week point me and my son have repaired three of them all ready I can't remember what we used but they all came out good as new On one we just glued the ear back on and put a plastic side on one side to reinforce it that one is going good just like new, on the other we took a block of plastic and made the whole new attachment then filed of the two broken ears and cemented the new attachment in place. so they are repairable it just takes some doing. but when completed they will be BETTER then new.
