Open battery compartment on a Tesoro Silver Sabre detector

I gave my daughter a Tesoro Silver Sabre detector many years ago, and she traded it back to me a couple of days ago for a newer detector that works - at my request. I'm trying to keep her interested in the hobby, but she's having a ball with her new magnet fishing craze. Anyway, the Silver Sabre has an open battery compartment, and is missing the battery module. I don't even remember what type of batteries it requires. I'm hoping someone will remember what batteries it requires, and what plastic module. Any help with figuring this out will be much appreciated. Maybe there's a site online that has the manual?

6 double A battery pack... Same one older Whites detectors use...

Hey, THANK YOU for the great info and photos! It looks like that's a 9 volt system, so why wouldn't a 9 volt battery work in place of the 6 aa cells?
A 9v square will die almost instantly... or not work at all if it's a half used cheapy.... You're charging the coil as well as running the circuit... The voltage is the same... But the 6 pack supplies more current for the same load... Trust Me..... Just pony up for the battery pack...

Battery output is a more robust conversation than politics or religion... I was on another forum reading one such discussion... And was laughing at some of the comments... Then I realized.... To My Horror.... I actually understood what those Nerds were saying...
