Hi Clyde,

You might want to look at the instructions for the GQ 3 on the Surfscanner website. Just click on the banner above and then on Eric Foster detectors. The GQ series all work about the same but some of the later models do have additional features such as the dual filter or maybe another control, but basically, the operation or adjustment of the series is fundamentally the same.
