Opinion... What do you run your gain at?

I have always run my gain at 8 on my EX and done really well. I am tossing the idea of running it at 5 so I can learn more about the depth of my target. I understand that it helps the audio sound more clear running it lower too.

What do you guys run yours at and why?

I usually have mine set between 6 _ 8.... ( 7 mostly.)

I have had my SE about 2 weeks now. I have been hunting local parks to learn the machine. The parks here are very new 6 to 7 years. I have been finding coins at the root level and rarely below that. My thoughts are that anything below 6 to 8 inches is mostly construction junk. Ten years ago the hills around here were desert. I have been running my gain low right now it is 3 so junk items don't sound off to loudly and coins come through well. I want to check out some ghost towns and older sites then maybe I will want to raise the gain. My thinking is I will raise the sensitivity to the level of stability first then up the gain and last resort bring up my volume. I am running Deep = on btw. Factory setting are just to loud for me at the level I am finding targets (surface to 6 inches.) I have tinnitus so maybe it is just me and the way I have to deal with my hearing.

Hi I used to live in Vegas and go back often to visit relatives and when I do I go to Henderson and drive around the old part of town looking for those townsite homes, alot of them are empty and go around them and have found old coins 1940s and up also the parks and schools are fairly old there too HH George
