I have my vaquero and compadre and I'm itching to get something else and thinking maybe break away from stock stuff and get a special purpose machine like a silver U max with a dedicated clean sweep tuned at the factory (if they or rust would do that) but even a Tejon with a upgraded coil,,, don't know but any ideas?

You might want to give the Golden a try, if you can find one right now.

You'll like the tones and notching feature.

For a good coin/jewlery machine to compliment your Compadre that will allow you to cherry pick more, its my personal favorite.

I have a Golden and a Silver... My Golden is in for repairs and I have been missing it greatly. If I had to drop to just one, it would be the Golden every time, though the Silver has been earning my respect in it's absence.

Your idea of dedicating a Silver umax to a cleansweep coil has merit. The all metal mode search mode on the Silver is pretty handy when using a cleansweep - you just toss discrimination on via a toggle switch and see what happens; you do this because all metal has the best depth and it hits the hardest, allowing you to slow down and look harder (I stole that tip from AZWIP from other forums: credit where credit is due). If you think that the target is just out of the range of detection for discimination, you now have the option to dig. It also lets you slow down and pick your way through troublesome spots.

Once they get around to making a 12x10 DD to sell separately from the Outlaw, I think that is going to be a pretty good coil for the Golden. Just run it wide open for max depth and let the tones tell you when to dig - discrimination without loosing any depth is a good thing.

Hmm sounds good and thanks for the posts. I think I should of proof read my 1st post before putting it up because of some PM's I'm getting but I do want to keep the two I have I just want to see what my options are for another machine but not your regular stock version,, its needs to have something unique, a nice mod or a nice upgrade,, its going to be hard for any Tesoro to beat what I have for what I do and where I do it.... I still do not have a submergable unit but it seems the beaches are picked clean around here so I don't want to put too much investment in a waterprrof unit,,,,,,,,, BUT maybe a silver or cibola set up with a submergable waterproof housing,,,,,, that would be cool..

Tajue 17, for an underwater unit, I bought a dealer demo 7 inch coil Compadre, which I eventually sold. I like the Silver UMax, and that is going in an Otter box mounted on a straight shaft...with the 8 inch coil ...Here is the rub, getting a really nice Cutlass 2 UMax(8inch coil),and am expecting a 7 inch concentric coil in today.By making the connections so that I can take the electronics out (of the Otter box) and refit to the land shaft, I have a loaner for a killer Grand daughter to use..The U/W package is a one shot deal for this Summer...Giving a DeepTec away, have a Vaquero, will be looking for another(to use as a loaner), a detector for the eight year old,and another 4 pin coil. So, if you live near the Columbus/ Newark,Ohio area and want to annoy the local fish population, feel free to give me a yell.. We can cover each others back by watching out for fins......a little far inland, but with sharks, you never know

Stick with what you have. Take that money that's burning a hole in your pocket and give it to charity.
