On the Sov. GT which would be a better choice a S-12 or 12.5 Excelerator coil? And why do you feel that way? Or does it even matter between the two?

I only beach hunt that is were these would be used.

Thanks

vfr800,Good question I'm curious also. You don't hear that much about the 12.5 Excelerator coil.I have a WOT coil I'm looking fortward to use when the weather breaks.Maybe someone has some experience with this 12.5 coil.HH Ron

90% of my hunting is beach or water. I used a WOT for two years. S-12 for over a year and a SEF 15x12 now for about a year. In each case I've gone back to the 10" stock coil.

With the machine tuned right..I just prefer it. And...I don't believe I sacrifice much depth.

My thought;s are to stick with the 10'' coil but add an amplifier the reason i was thinking of a larger coil is because of the depth being even greater plus the amp.........

I have both and I have done extensive comparisons between them and other coils (SEF and WOT) The difference in depth between any of the coils is very slim if any. The S-12 and Excelerator are very similar in weight and coverage, both a good choice for a 12" coil. The SEF (12x15) and WOT give a little more coverage which is what you need for beach hunting but both are heavier than either 12" coil. For some the weight is the deciding factor. The WOT and SEF (12x15) are also very comparable in weight and coverage but I like the pinpointing on the SEF slightly better. For beach hunting, if weight is not a factor, I would use the WOT or the SEF (12x15) just to get better coverage. The Amp will work well with any of these coils and increase the depth by 20%.

Hope this helps

G'day Shaun,

Try as I might, I just couldn't get the SEF 15x12 to work with the Amp....just falsed on any setting.....low sens with the GT and Amp.

The Amp with the 10" stock Tornado is just as deep as the bigger coils....

SEF coil has gone BUT the Amp will always be on my Sovereign.....
