Original Bandito (brown box) lower rod

Arturo de Zorro

New member
Just got a Bandito (brown box) at E-bay but no lower rod, does anyone have a picture of the lower rod that comes with the orginal Bandito? I have a gold colored rod about 14 inches long off a I think its from a Bandito II or some other unit. Just want to have the right lower rod so when I go to sale it.. I really wanted a Pantera but seems I am all to late...

Hey Zorro

There is a Pantera that sold in the Classifieds here on the first page 06/08/09 add. It has some closeup pictures of the lower rod that you need. Hope this helps..............Hombre

Hey mascard

All Tesoro lower rods will work.........but he was/is looking for the original rod that came on it, and the Pantera that was sold to SEMPERFI has the"lower rod" that is OEM. The upper rod on that Pantera is not original equipment........Oh well. HH..........Hombre

teach me to read so fast?????????getting old is he...lllllll!!!!!!!!!!!

I got that same lower black rod in the mail but missing the bottom 5 inch black piece the mounts the coil. I believe that is glued on to lessen the play. after connecting the lower gold rod from a ?????? It looks nice with the gold color all the way down. So I will leave it that way

Nice looking Bandido..............does it work as good as it looks? These machines are known to work well in the nail strewn old teardowns and old house sights. I know mine works well in these kind of places, just keep the disc low, and swing slow thru the trash. I find that going slow thru the spits and sputters of rejected trash that you can pick out the good signals, and when a good signal comes through...........I do a little coil wiggle over the spot, and it picks it up much better. It is uncanny how this machine can pick out the good targets in the iron nails.Have fun with yours...............Hombre

I just got this last week and it looks like brand new, I took it to my old coin garden and coins at 6 inches it hit little iffty. Is there any super tuning on these model and any other tips you have, you can email direct or call me any time between 10 am---11pm (210) 771-2449.

By "possibly" I mean it is quite possible that you only get 6" coins with an "iffy" response. It depends upon the ground minerals, the coil used, and the settings. You can't do anything about the mineralization, so let's look at the other two things: coil choice and presentation, and settings used.

The standard 8" coil that came with the original Bandido was the thinner, white, open-center coil. The Bandido II had the brown, open-center coil. With the white 8" coil I usually got a little better performance than the brown coil. However, most of the time with almost every Tesoro model I used from the Inca thru the Bandido II

from the metal detecting club meeting, what I have a question on is (Adjust a 'proper' Threshold in the All Metal mode) I don't have a threshold so after I flip to all metal, which knob do I turn to get that proper hum? and one more thing, when do you use the retune mode? I am going to have to down load a manual for this unit tomorrow.

Hey Arturo

Yup! Having and reading a manual several times helps, especially with a model you are not familiar with. Just get acquainted with the ground balance procedure, and your iffy signal should come in clear. My Bandido will detect silver dimes down to 8 inches....................Plenty deep for me....................Hombre
