ORX for Civil War Relics?

I've never used an XP detector as I run an Equinox and an AT Pro. I am interested in getting something a little lighter than the NOX. Does anyone use the ORX for relic hunting in an iron rich county? Our ground is mineralized and the grass is pretty tall as well. The ORX seems a bit more in my price range. Any suggestions or comments welcomed and thanks for them in advance.

This is a question for Calabash Digger. Look up his you tube channel.

ORX is a good performer and has Deus DNA. A great relic machine....my only gripe with the ORX is it doesnt have a iron volume control....hint hint Deus update please..... A used Deus is my suggestion if you like to listen to the iron. You will love the way a ORX or Deus swings compared to the others you have.

Thanks for the advice. I have been watching your youtube videos per the advice of Xdigger

I have a number of very useful detectors, but age and crappy health had a negative impact on my mobility I spent the bulk of this year thinning out a lot of detectors (still have 3 or 4 to go) in an effort to trim my Outfit to some of the lightest and better-balanced models that fit my needs. I already had some lighter-weight models, but the two ORX's I bought this year are definitely the lightest of them all, and that allows me to get in longer search-times than I've been able to for a while now.

I don't have any Civil War conflict sites to hunt where I live (in far Eastern Oregon) but I can assure you that most of the places I hunt in Nevada, Utah, southern Idaho and this side of Oregon tend to have high iron mineralization to deal with as well as a nasty amount of nails and other dense ferrous debris. Gold mining era ghost towns to those associated with a lot of RR activity, homesteads, pioneer and military encampments to fort sites. and many early-day activity sites that present similar challenges with ample iron to deal with.

My ORX w/5X9½ HF coil and the other ORX w/9" X35 coil are becoming two of my most-used detectors because they are light, handy and very maneuverable in brushy or confined areas.

My ORX arrived today with MI 6 pinpointer....I am anxious to get to my permissions on Sunday with my friends.
