Out of the loop?

How much different is the Minelab Explorer SE as opposed to the ExplorerII. I haven't compared the two as I have been out of the loop persay as to new technology. Can our detectors accept new software or upgrades? This would problably be a question for Mike.

I am not sure if it is still in the archives or not at the Minelab forum? I had written a field report with all my thoughts on the SE.
I was fortunate to field test one of the new SE's right before they hit the market. In short my report was that the SE could not out perform my XS. It has a nice look, the coil is 60 grams lighter (about 2 oz.),
and the processor is a little faster, but it did not warrant spending 12 or 14 hundred bucks when my XS would find the same stuff. I used the two machines side by side. Sure there were a couple guys that said they disagreed, but one of the replys backing me 100% was from the guy who wrote the book (literally) Andy Sabisch! That was good enough for me! :)
