Out of this world

Here is a great picture in this website of not only the location of the fire in the Thumb of Michigan but the fires in Wisconsin and in Illinois from the same source.
Back in the old days they thought the fire had been caused from many things - dry summer, high winds, a careless fire and so on.

lost due to the circumstances of the fire and all it consumed. Did coins survive? Was what little money people had tossed into the well for later retrieval? Maybe hastily buried and never to be found again?
Did the silverware get buried in the ashes and soot?
Since most buildings burned down what of the schools where kids played and learned?
Just some thoughts.

many thought it was the end of the world and the stars were falling? I never heard of this before! Probably are treasures hidden from the houses & etc. when they burned! Just like there are treasures lost for others to find during tornadoes, floods & earthquakes!
