Outlaw and Cleansweep

New member
I have seen several threads on using the Cleansweep coil with the outlaw detector. The Cleansweep was my favorite coil for soccer fields with the Cortes. I went out today and the ground is too dry and hard. I dug two targets then stopped. I don't want to ruin the sports field. As soon as we get a good soaking rain I will take the Cleansweep out and see how good it performs on the Outlaw then report my findings.

I tried the 10 KHZ 3x18 cleansweep coil on the Outlaw, (which is 10.6 KHZ) It would not Ground Balance correctly, I was all the way in the negative, was the best I could do.

then while in discriminate, The outlaw would not hit on 90% of my test Garden targets which are only 3-4 inch's deep.

Now with the 3 stock coils, the outlaw hits hard on 100% of my test garden, like a 3 alarm fire bell, so maybe there's a spacial G/B trick with he 3x18 cleansweep coil ? maybe the cleansweep coil is not compatible with the Outlaw ?

according to tesoro's website it is ???

I have used the cs coil on mine. It works but not too well. Very shallow on most targets. You would be better off with the 10x12 stock coil.

I have a small coin garden in the back of my house. A 63 Lincoln and a clad dime. Both down 5 inches. Only a few months old. I ground balanced the 10 x12 and it hit solid in disc and all metal. Next I put the Cleansweep coil on and ground balanced. It was a quarter of a turn CW from the other coil setting. So it does ground balance for me. Put the Outlaw in disc near foil. The dime gave a good hit up to an inch above the ground. Went a little deeper in all metal. The penny would not hit in disc until I lowered almost all the way down. CCW. Hit good in all metal. So either it doesn't hit good on deeper pennies or coin hasn't been the ground long enough. So this coil seems to be working on my machine. It doesn't feel as balanced as the other coils I have.

The cleansweep on my silver umax (without a ground balance adjust) hit coins at 5 in easy (in the ground). You must remember that the cleansweep was designed for sucking up recent drops/covering alot of ground quickly. I love my cleansweep Cant wait to get one for the Vaquero. Also cant wait to mod my Compadre so I can try it on that.

I am going to dedicate the dry sand to my outlaw.I was going to use the tejon but the outlaw will do just fine in the dry sand.I will use the 12x10 DD or the 15x12 butterfly sef on the outlaw. The outlaw seems to have an attraction to small jewelry.I knew way back that the outlaw would become the new thing for jewelry.I think it is the retune speed. If you take notice ,check the retune speed.I believe this is what gives the outlaw such great detection of small type jewelry items. Most Tesoro detectors have a lightening fast retune speed. Not so with the outlaw. This is what is making the outlaw such a great jewelry detector along with being great on silver.

Jarid, i modded my compadre to use other coils. I think that the umax CS coil is too different from the stock. I tested all my outlaw coils on the compadre and it did not do well with the CS coil or the 10x12. The strange thing is it really didnt like quarters. I piu up an air test on this forum awhile ago. I had been using that setup before I did the air test. I was wondering why I never found any quarters with it. I dont use it anymore. I know air tests aren't that accurate but it did tell me I was walking past quarters.

Jarid,

I do not think the Outlaw coils can be used on the compadre. They use different frequencies.
