Outlaw on order

I've been metal detecting for about 10 years - started with Tesoro Cortes. I've wanted to try a tone-only machine so just ordered the Outlaw. I'm sure once the ground thaws here in SW Michigan, I'll be asking for tips for what to listen for. Are the tones similar to the Cortes? Can you estimate a depth based on the tone? Can't wait to try this new machine out. I already saw some youtube vids on the Outlaw, but any help with tones would be appreciated.

It is single tone.Has very good modulated signal tone to really hear deep targets.Very good sizing up ability. No motion all metal is a added bonus, with a retune button with laser sharp pinpointing. You can actually shrink the target with this retune feature in the no motion mode.Have fun and stay in touch.:yo:

Hunt with it for an hour, try and guess if it's coin or not, and keep track of your sucess rate of your guess accuracy. THEN, put on the headphones and do it again..What a diiference the headphones make on this machine is all I can say. You can really hear the "roundness" of the tone on a good target. Nothing is 100%, but I can tell you for the most part I know (with headphones) when it's a good target Vs junk... It's still poss without the headphones but much harder to hear the subtle differences in the tone. When you get a coin that's shallow it will sometimes sound sharp like junk. Raise the coil as you swing and the tone will mellow out and sound round again. If it's junk, it will still sound sharp as you raise the coil. This is especially true with aluminum. Good Luck!!!!
