Overload signal won't quit

Hello All,

My Tek T2SE is having an issue where after turning it on the machine won't stop playing the overload signal sound. Any attempt at changing the settings, ground balancing, pinpointing etc, are futile. I've changed the batteries out and replaced with fresh ones so I know that's not the problem. I was wondering if anyone else has run into this issue? If so, was there anything you did to fix it, or am I going to have to send it in for repair? One thing I haven't tried yet is swapping out the coil, so I'll give that a shot when I get the opportunity. Short from that I'm out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated!

Just a suggestion,have you tried taking the coil cover off and seeing if any dirt is between the coil cover and the coil as sometimes that can cause problems like this.
 
I have had that trouble before, If you get black sand or dirt in the coil cover it will over lode. I try to clean mine every week or two. Ease if you run hot water in tub and place the coil in for a min. I use two knifes and slip it in the edge of cover and work it ease around the edge. Makes a big difference.
 
He doesn't use coil covers so he knew it wasn't a "trapped debris, sand, water" issue.

He changed search coils and that wasn't the problem.

He swapped out his new batteries for some fresh batteries I had, and that didn't take care of the problem.

I am not sure what caused the problem, but he sent it to FTP, it came back working as it should, but he soon didn't like it because the T2 didn't lock-on really well and it too "spastic", as he described, in many places he hunted. He got 2nd T2, but found it performed the same, so he sold it as well and went with an Omega. He moved away and I am not sure how to reach him to find out what caused the constant overload audio when it was turned on, but coil cover trapped particles, changing search coils and installing fresh batteries didn't solve anything.

Ask FTP as they can answer this. I had one T2 that was brought to a seminar and it did the same thing. ???

It would have been a help to everyone if he had mentioned all about changing coils,no coil covers etc but no mention about that in hi post,so hence this is why folk i guess tried to help with the usual problem solving suggestions.

Seems a bit odd though when he is asking for help about the problem and he has had factor assistance as well and change everything possible,but from your post Monte it sounds like he has sold it/them so he no longer owns these machines.So i guess no longer a problem.
 
Mega B, you're right, it was no longer a problem for him, but I sure wish I would have known what caused that problem. He tried the 11" BiAxial I had on my T2 that worked fine, and his T2 coil worked fine on my T2. Just turned the detector on and it pulsed with the Overload signal. :shrug:

Hi guys , I have the F-75 ltd and it overloads a lot . I fixed it buy dropping the sensitivity down quite a bit and still had great depth. GS

Hey Mega B, thanks for that suggestion. When I get time tomorrow or the next day I will give that a shot, as well as change coils. Didn't cross my mind to check under the cover, so thanks for that suggestion. If that, combined with swapping coils doesn't solve the problem, I will probably try contacting the manufacturer. I'll keep everyone posted with my results.

Working 12 hour shifts doesn't help me resolve it until my day off friday. Thanks to everyone for their input.
 
I had a cz-6a doing that and it was one of the coil wires lose at the conector,you turn it on with the coil unscrewed/not attached and see if its quite,if so inspects your wires at the connector or your coil could be craped out on you.
 
even at minimum, and it still gave the overload audio when turned on. No setting we could adjust made it stop, nor a coil change or battery change.

Well I think I figured out what the problem is. I took the 11" DD off and replaced it with the 5" DD and had no problems with the 5" coil. Worked just like it should. Then I cleaned off the 11" and put it back on. There is no coil cover on the 11" so it wasn't any debris inside there. Once I put the 11" coil back on I switched on the machine and it gave me the overload signal again.

After taking all suggestions and swapping coils, I'm under the impression that my 11" DD is no longer working properly. Looks like I'll be needing to make an investment in a new one.

Try wiggling the coil wire at the connector and see if it has an effect,i only got mine to clear up one time after several wiggle/manipulations of the wire..I would not write the coil off until you check out the connector,i pulled the spring and nut part back and found a lose wire.
