overload

I love metal detecting. I know there is a lot to learn to be good at it. What exactly does overload signal do to the mxt? Also, I found a spot where an old homesite was burned by vfd. Old timers tell me they know for a fact a couple of bags of indian head pennys and silver dollars fell between the walls and were never recovered. Is it possiable to get an overload signal from a lot of coins in one spot? I am new at this and would appriciate your experiance, advice, thoughts as digging up nail, iron, and aluminum gets frustrating.{not enough to stop}

You sure can get a overload from a sack of coins, in fact you can get overload from one coin on or near the surface especially if you have tweaked it up a bit. When this happens you can lift it a few inches above the ground and maybe be able to get a better signal as to what it is but more than likely you would have to dig it to be sure. Good LUCK!
