Patience in the Gospel

Preaching and teaching the gospel is one of the most difficult areas in which to exercise patience. Most of us are too impatient with people who don't know the truth or who don't seem to care about it. But in a world full of false doctrine and prejudice against truth, we must be longsuffering as we seek to lead people to Christ. It is too easy to shake our head and say, "Why don't they understand? The truth is so plain."

The truth always is plain to the person who is not looking at it through glasses tinted by false doctrine, tradition, family, and so forth. We must be patient as we seek to open minds and untie the tentacles of prejudice and false teaching that bind them to error and tradition.

Read Mark 4:26-29. What are some practical lessons about patience in the area of soul winning from this parable? The Parable of the Growing Seed "He also said, "This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain

Such a good thing and yet so hard to practice.

Good post again, SS! That is why the Bible says one plants the seed and another waters to help the sinner to come to the Lord and then grow in Spirit and in truth of God's Word! When the good word of God takes root and then it is watered by others who also spread Jesus' Gospel Word then we Spiritually grow and will be harvested for God in Jesus' name or we turn back into sinning, willfully, again! But I believe once a person really and truly gets hold of the absolute truth and knows who Jesus is personally that they'll not turn back but continue on in being provided for, protected and blessed and to be a blessing to others! Amen! Betty
