Tried the Patriot out for about 1.5 hrs. Was amazed at how quiet it was in my woods and a field. Never did run the sens. above 75. My orig. 70 was quickly sold because of noise. Manual says it comes w/ a 9.75 concentric. Advertisement says a 11" DD, which did come with it. Also the accessories page shows T2 coils listed as replacements. If a new buyer doesn't understand F.T. coils he/she could make a bad mistake. Maybe I'm misreading it. The coil that came with it had no markings on it. It seemed to work fine so I assume it is a 70/75 coil. It's light and well balanced which means a lot to me. For the price the Patriot will be hard to beat. Found a few coins going back to the 1870's and enough brass harmonica reeds to out fit the Harmonicats. (used to appear on the Ed Sullivan show). Yeah, I know just don't say it.

Sounds like it is working good.....it sure is a good looking machine too...
Does it have good audio tones on coins?? How's the.feel for it on depth??

I have no real idea if this is true but FTP is known for tweaking things behind the scenes and not saying anything about it.
It is "possible" that even though they have not done a full DST upgrade on this thing they might...might have added some sort of extra shielding to this new one, some slight adjustment to the programming or something else.
Some of what they learn after coming out with one model sometimes makes it into future generations of their products, SL speed on the F70 morphed into Boost on the newer F75's for instance, so something might have been changed when they started manufacturing this one.
Something to reduce the EMI problem.
It is said the new DST F75's are quieter now even with DST turned off so that makes me wonder.
If they have been able to do this will depth or anything else be affected, behavior or whatnot?

Again just a theory but if your F70 was way noisier at the same settings and same sites as this one, so much so you decided to sell it, that might be some sort of clue.
Could be you had an extra noisy F70, also, or it could be these are built to be quieter...no way to tell unless you bring in a larger sample of many F70's and Patriot's into this same noisy site to compare.
We will never actually know unless or until someone at FTP addresses this which is something they might never do.

Depth seems to be on par with my G2+ but no way of really knowing--yet. First thing I thought about with its quietness was maybe a little DST found a way into the Patriot. Remember, you can't trust electrons. The are liable to show up anywhere. Was going out this afternoon to try out the speed and some of its tones. At 6:30 the temp was 95 so I said the heck with it. Maybe tomorrow morning. Sat. has a 90% chance of rain. We need it in S.E. Ga. Cool things off. I only used #3 tone and it bangs out clear and solid but the max coin depth was about 5". I know its capable of a lot more.

I was amazed at how that guy could spin all those plates on tall skinny sticks at the same time.

There is no DST on the Patriot just to be clear.

As far as depth...it should surpass the G2+/F19 on a high conductor by a good few inches in most soils.
