Someone quoted you stating that the T-2 is better than the Explorer and Nautilus.

Could you please put this into perspective? In which ways is it better? I'm always looking for a machine that will outdo what I have.

Thanks!

Tony

Hello Tony,

I know you

Hi Paul,
Never say you are sorry for a long post as there are those of us that learn from them.

I am curious though, it must be the DD coil the T-2 uses that gives it the edge over the Nautilus? Why do I say this? Both detectors are not that far away from each other as to their KHz rating. Could the T-2 possibly use multi-freq's sort of like the Minelab Explorer? I don't know.

I wonder if the Nautilus was built to handle a DD coil if it would handle the harsh soils.

I'm also curious why you don't use the Nautilus 4 which is supposed to be for harsh soils?

Also, since you do know quite allot about detectors, why do you think the T-2 works better around iron than the Explorer?

I used to use the Nautilus and for my area here in Michigan was not able to get any deeper nor able to get into trash areas any better than my Explorer or DFX or Muskateer. So I sold it. Actually I am pleasantly surprised with my cheapo Minelab Muskateer.

But I am always looking for a machine that will give me the edge and if the T-2 does that, well, I'd like to get one.

But now I see most of them that are for sale have the upgrade to disc bottle caps. Does one with the upgrade automatically have to disc bottle caps? Or are there settings whereby the user can bypass that disc and allow them?

Thanks for your help!

Tony

Hello Tony,

The T-2 is not a multi-freq detector like the Explorer, It

Thanks so much Paul.

I have another question (anyone with expertise can jump in and answer too): In a real world situation where an old square nail has been in the ground over a hundred years and has spread quite an enlarged iron halo around it, do you think that if, oh, just for the sake of argument, there were three square nails (in the ground a hundred years) separated by about 1/2 inch and under the middle nail was a seated dime, that the T-2 would still pick up the dime?

Let's say the nails are at a depth of 6 inches and the dime around 8", would the T-2 still pick out the dime?

Most of the older coins here in Michigan (and I've even seen modern coins deep too here) are around 6 to 10 or so inches deep. Do you think the T-2 would hit on the 10" coin if it were a quarter?

I have seen the pictures and read where the T-2 can hit a dime directly under three nails but this is above ground. Still it is a great feat.

In such a case, with the dime in the ground and nails on top would the T-2 give deep/high intermittent tones?

Hey Tony,

Seeing is beleiving, You need to get a T-2.....Then, you'll see what we're seeing :)

I hunted a local park that I have hunted for years with my Coinstrike, CZ's, Quattro, Cortes just to name a few. I happened to come across a target that was about 8" deep with the T2. I dug down and found an girls ID bracelet that was broken into pieces. I recovered it and covered up the hole. Then I made another pass over the same hole with the T2, and BAM another hit. I redug the hole and there was a silver bracelet link, just one small itty bitty link. I covered up the hole figuring that has to be it. Then BAM, another hit in the same hole, I re-dug the hole like 4 times and each time I recovered a bracelet link.

I wouldn't have believed it had I not see it for myself. I was able to put the bracelet back together and as far as I know, every link has been accounted for.
