Periscope PI + Prospecting

I wrote the company that Mfrs. the PI unit called the Periscope (see www.downscope.com) as to how it would work for gold prospecting and got the following reply:
Randall,
Thank you for your question. Although we have initially advertised in media directed towards coin, treasure hunter/beachcomber,periscope was designed to have its highest sensitivity to raw gold nuggets and gold alloys.
A PI detector requires extremely responsive electronics to detect small gold nuggets and Periscope has the possibly the fastest electronics ever used in a metal detector. Periscope will detect a 0.2 gm nugget .75" from its tip and a 0.5 gm nugget 1.25" from its tip with the sensitivity switch to maximum.
One of the most exciting aplications for Periscope in gold prospecting is the searching of cracks and crevices in creek beds. When a gold surface detector signals a gold target in a crack, it can be quickly located with the Periscope and retrieved. This is more productive that trying to dig out the crack with a screw driver. Periscope's direction-to-target indicator makes it easy to find nuggets in the clay typically found in these cracks. The black sand in these cracks which interferes with other detectors has almost no effect on Periscope.
However, the BIG NEWS is that Periscope can be used by itself to find nuggets in cracks that are deeper than the small nugget limit of 4" or so that can be seen by conventional gold metal detectors. Periscope can penetrate cracks and crevices up to its 14" shaft length finding gold nuggets that couldn't be located by any other detector. This was recently demonstrated in field testing in Colorado. Nuggets 1 gram and larger were recovered by this metod.
If I can answer any other questions, please let me know.

Very interesting and I bet this guy can demonstrate these claims. Hope this is found interesting.

Hi Randy,
Is the Periscope really P.I.? I have come across detectors in the past that have claimed to be P.I., but weren't. If it is P.I. it is a real advance in technology. I like its direction finding ability. What sort of coil can do this in such a small probe? Would it work with an 8in coil? maybe with a switch box to switch to the probe when a signal is detected.
Eric.

Eric,
If I can find the patent on it I'll post it's number on this forum.

P.S. How's the new Gold Detector PI coming along?
