Another junk filled day, went to two different parks and a school yard. Trash everywhere, spent 3 hours digging trash, was getting really sick of it. Almost thinking of giving up the hobby. Almost felt like it was the 1970's digging pull tabs and bottle caps by the handfuls..........except here it's can slaw, juice cap seals and and huge foil. For three hours I netted a quarter and two dimes and 1 penny.

Went home for a snack and play with the cats for awhile. Thought I would give one other school yard a try. Wife wanted the car, that school will have to be left for another day.

Decided to go across the street to the school yard there, convenient to play for an hour or so. I have taken the Teknetics Delta and Omega over there, they drove me crazy with all the trash there. Also used a few other machines....found many coins. Took the PI there and found a heck of a lot more that the other machines missed. I mentioned in another post how my PI doesn't like pennies. Well wanted to see how many pennies the PI missed in an area I have hunted to death, I thought. Grabbed the new old Tesoro Bandido II with the 10x12 SEF search coil. Wasn't expecting to find much......Ground balanced the Tesoro and popped it into disc mode, set at just above foil. Dug a bunch of pul tabs, bottle caps, some can slaw and foil. And a whole bunch of pennies, some quarters, several dimes and nickels, hash pipe bowl, keys and a ring. Yeah the ring was covered in dirt and looked like a junker. Cleaned the ring up, well lookee here, it's gold with a diamond, 10k, 1.5 grams, worth $35.00. That's my second gold ring for the year. Have to get back across the street and start a grid, there has to be at least one more pc. of gold there. By the way most of the pennies found were 5-6" deep.

Sven, Glad you got that ring in the nik-of-time to keep you in the hobby. I like reading your posts, hope you find more gold and keep posting.

Once detecting is in your blood, trash or no trash, you keep on going. Even if you have "a moment of crazy thoughts"....there's still treasure out there to find.

I always enjoying reading your posts too Sven, congrats on the ring.

It's the "What if" of the next yet unheard signal that keeps the arm going when you think it's about to fall off and the brain says you've had enough.

That next signal that can stick money in your pocket and pay the rent.

Once it's in your blood.

You're a treasure hunter for life.

Way to go!

Nothing beats a Tesoro for finding gold jewelry. Period

Sven. Nice to see you found gold. Never ceases to amaze me when I find good stuff in the most unlikely spots. I have noticed that I will pound an area with one detector and then I acquire a new detector (usually a Tesoro) and hit the area again and it seems like a virgin site. My Bandido II Umax and Eldorado Umax I recently acquired have made every site seem brand new. I saw the Bandido II you purchased on eBay recently. I was wondering if you have tried an 8" on the Bandido and how the 10 x 12 compares to the 8" in performance. Which one do you like best? Congrats again on the nice ring. HH

Don't have an 8" to compare it to at the moment. It feels lighter than the Tesoro 10x12 and can swing it all day. The SEF covers lots of ground, it is a DD coil. Once you get the hang of pinpointing with it, it's dead on. Unless it's a deeper nail or a pc. of wire, it will be off to the side as with the stock Tesoro coils. When centered an digging down, if you can't find the target, dig off to the side inside the hole. I am impressed with the performance of the 10x12 coil, especially in all metal mode. Overall it lets the older Bandido II compete with any modern digital detector I have owned.
I was wondering myself how it compares to the 8" coil, I have an older Amigo II with a 7" coil that's begging to try the 10x12. Just need to get a coil connector to rewire it. Miss my Eldorado, wonder how much better it would have performed with the 10x12.........I am working on a deal for another Tesoro that will have the 8" brown coil. Then I can get a better idea how they compare.

Now Robert from Tesoro posted they tried the SEF DD coil and compared it to Tesoro's 10x12, they found no difference. If they compared it to the Tesoro 10x12DD and not the concentric, might be worth it for you to try the 10x12DD from Tesoro. I have had the Tesoro 10x12 Concentric couple times in the past, it didn't give me more than 1" or so more depth, so I sold them.

Thanks for the info Sven. I found an Eldorado Umax in amazing condition and for the price I could not pass it up. Might have to put the sef coil on the wish list for Christmas seeing as I own a Bandido II Umax and an Eldorado Umax and it will work on either. Can you please tell me the brand your sef coil is as well? Good luck and i hope you keep finding the treasure. HH
