:super:[attachment 22285 MarchNV1.JPG]Ok folks..I think I have this photo posting down...or I hope so anyway.

AuMarc from TN came out west to do a little gold nugget hunting with me and a couple friends.

The weather was worthless (as expected for mid March) and the ground real noisey for the big GP's with mono coils.

One morning before the sun came up, I talked AuMarc into making a change of plans and trying to find a few relics from cowboys past and maybe even a coin or two that could have been lost near the saloon.

As you can see from the photos we had a wonderful morning with some dusty old finds and memories to share with loved ones when retruning home.

My finds (all with Explorer-II) are the 1868 Indian Head Cent, the 1896-S Barber Dime and my 1st Half Dime- an 1872 9which was soldered on the back and made into a button. Plus a Chinese Cash coin and some interesting artifacts.

The two photos of gold nuggets were found by one of our friends (Mark M from NV)while using the Minelab GP-3500. These nuggets have quite a bit of character and look much different than the average nugget. When you find unique shaped specimens such as these, you can certainly put your onw price tag on them and they will go for much more than gold weight.

Overall the trip was a success and we'll certainly try it again this Fall or early next Spring.

Thanks and Enjoy the photos.

Congrats on the Gold Nugget finds and all the coin finds. Keep up the good work.

Hi Gerry,

I have posted this page out of the Catalogue of moder World Coins, I think you will find your Chinese cash coin on the page.

very nice finds, wish I was with you.

All the best.....Boony

Sorry if I stepped out of bounds, but the nugget pictures were part of the trip and so I thought it would be nice to share a different flavor of candy for you folks.

It was the gold nuggets that we went after, but as you can see from the other pictures, the gold turned into coinage and relics.

The real gold was in the friendships made and people met.

What a great hobby we have.

Thanks for all your comments.

I thought it over after the post on this forum and then decided I better post it on there as well.

If I need to remove the 2 pictures of gold, then just let me know and we'll do so.

Thanks for your input..

Now that I am getting better with a camera and knowing how to post on this forum, I'll try to make the time and give pictures and short stories more often.

It is nice to see such a variety of finds from across the country.

Here is a photo of my 1st Half Dime find. It is an 1872 and was found last week in NV.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

Very nice Gerry.............:) I'm still hoping to find my first seated coin one of these days, but it probably won't be from anyplace around here where I live. HH.

Eddie

Nice Half-Dime you found. I only find the Canadian Silver Nickels and the oldest is 1870 in about EF condition. I have yet to find an U.S. Half-Dime. Maybe this year! Good Luck on your next voyage out.
