PI and Recovery Speed

Member
On another forum, someone made the statement that
P.I.'s have a slow recovery speed. He was comparing the
speed between a Makro Deephunter VLF nonmotion 12.5khz
and a P.I. in regard to sweep speed. Is
it true you have to search slower with a P.I.?

Sweep speed depends on the time constant of the integrators (filters), not necessarily the TX frequency. Back in the early days of the Red Baron (6kHz), you had to whip the coil rather briskly to get depth. An exceptionally low PI pulse rate (like 100Hz) might dictate slower filteringm but most PI's even down to 600Hz (Surf PI & Sandshark) can be swept at normal speeds.
