I rarely come here and some of you gurus got PMs from me. I appreciate the replies by the way. Ive been hunting for about 20 years but have started beaching hunt. I use an Xcal currently.... which i like when i can keep it out of ML repair shop. I jhunt daily and know the beaches around me pretty well now since i hunt a good bit in PP.
I could just get another Xcal which would be an obvious choice, but im not sure thats what im wanting. In Fl.... some people tell me they dont really get a huge depth difference over the Xcal. Im aware id have to change my normal hunting style a bit having to dig more targets. The beaches arent seriously trashy out deep where ill be hunting mostly with it.... or at least the VLFs keep it clean to a certain depth. Now there is depth and then there is sensitivity to certain targets. With the salt setting of the ML it looses some sensitivity that im looking for.... thus an edge. Of course we are talking about gold targets. Yes im going to ask..... of those PIs being produced which machine not only gives me decent depth, but also that sensitivity to the small gold items? Im leaning toward the more popular DF because i like whites i like their PP as well... because when you are out there up to your neck you dont want to be digging hoping the target falls in the hole. Im told the uS has a lot to do with its ability to accomplish this... which i think the DF also has.
Bottom line is there is a lot of competition on these beaches ..... most are using VLF disc machine ive noticed. The added sensitivity might be whats called for to pick up those targets passed over at just a few inches under the sand. Ive read that interesting post by the way about batteries.... very interesting.
