PI vs VLF

I've recently purchase a Sand Shark and am impressed with it's sensitivity to very small targets at good depth.
Being a PI it's sensing everything unlike the VLF unit with discrimination (kind of obvious).
My question is whether PI is as sensitive to gold rings/jewelery (10K/14K/18K....) as VLF.
Are there any major differences between the two signal types in what metals they will detect and their sensitivity to certain metals.
And thank you very much for taking the time and effort in conducting this class. - Mark P.

Mark,
They are differences in sensitivities between PI units just like they are in VLF/IB detectors. It depends on what the manufacture designed it for, and the market it is trying to serve. I have not had a chance to play with a Sand Shark, but from what I have read on the forums, claims that it is sensitive to the items we all want (jewelry). Go grab, borrow a couple of jewelry item, and air test them to find out what the response will be. Do the same with your VLF unit. It will give you some idea as to it
