PIC controlled PI machine

I have tried building several of the PIC microcontroller based PI machines and they all seem to have stuff missing and don't work too well. I have a fairly good ability to program the PICs and the assemply language setup to do so. If anyone has a good PIC based circuit with the PIC code I would be interested in giving it a try. Also, has anyone compiled a set of the good advice that Eric and others have posted on this site. Seems if it was all together we'd have a good start at building a decent oper source machine.
Thanks in advance,
Dan

I tried PICs and AVRs for some devices (measurement & control, but not metal detectors so far ;-) ) and I definitely prefer AVRs
