Thought you might like to see Fat Ma and my friends waiting for the ticket number to be announced! My hair is naturally red and I do not put color on it of any kind....I was 71 in July of 2006 and I don't believe I detected at this Fall Hunt but just visited, purchased tickets for the drawing....and I don't believe I won anything at this hunt, but I did in 2005 which I will post pics in another post! See, I told you my memory is gone and I can't remember where it is to go and find it! I doubt if I was still a member of the Midwest Coinshooters and Historical Club of St. Louis, MO in 2006 and I am not a member now! Too far to drive at night and not able to swing and dig with my COPD and Arthritis! I think I may have to visit a Chiropractor (which I really cannot afford) as my neck and body sure do ache plus stiffness and soreness! Ya all go :detecting: and enjoy it while you can, as sometimes our health fails and causes us not to be able to do a lot of things! It's not the years but the mileage I've put on this body by farmwork, detecting and other laboring tasks through the many years! Maybe you can make a copy and put my pic in your Garden or Corn Patch next spring to keep the varmits away!  God Bless! Betty

Good picture Ma, I like seeing pictures of what everyone looks like. I stayed home with my daughter today as she is sick , I have been off and on the computer all day.

Thanks 7centsworth! Because of the damp, dreary and cloudy weather, I really ache and sooo I am using the Computer today, also! Sorry to hear your daughter is ill!

My prayer for her! Dear Father, please touch Travis' daughter with your healing virtue and help her to get better and able to be up and about and on the go again in Jesus' precious name I pray! Amen! God Bless! Betty

How many people on average came to them meetings?

Thx for the pic - always good to see each other. Also good to see all the gals there. When I was in the club there were almost never any gals. steve in so az

Thank you all!

Mike, me son, I think there were usually around 50 to 75 attending the hunts and maybe more at some, as many brought their family members &/or friends, who couldn't hunt because of not being a member! The club had to pay for the rented grounds for the evening before (planting of coins in a private kept area) and for the day of the hunt! Each one attending (member or not) had to pay $5.00 to get in and enjoy the day together! There was free potluck, sodas and meat cooked by some of the club members! Rain or shine we had the hunts! Competition (paid to enter it), free surprise hunt and main hunt! Ya had to swing and dig fast or someone would be there before you and get the coins & surprises! Most of the men were really fast....too fast!

There are only about 30-50 that attended the meetings....depending on the weather and those who usually attended! The club has tickets for sale to win silver dimes, a 50-50 drawing to split the money depending on the number of tickets sold, and for a Silver Dollar or Silver Round! Then there are winners for the best coin, the most expensive find, oddity and oldest coin! Usually a silver quarter was or is given to each who win in the finds entered and judged! I haven't been to the meetings for so long that I don't know how many members there are now or whether they attend the meetings once a month except December! November's meeting is their party night with food and sweets brought for Christmas!

If anyone wants to view the Newsletter of the September 2009 hunt, they can google in Midwest Coinshooters and Historical Club, St. Louis, MO! It will come up and there are pics on it for 2006, where I copied the pic of me and the other ladies!

Steve, we usually had several women who belonged to the club and went :detecting: with or without their husbands but the men out numbered us! Most of the older ladies and men still attend, if they are able or haven't passed away, of which there have been several since 1980! Liz and Gloria joined when the Club first formed in Jan 1980 and I joined in July 1981! Gloria was treasurer but has turned the job over to another member and has quit the club also because of her health!

I just couldn't pay the higher fees and my eyes and arthritis prevent me from driving very long at a time or after dark unless I have to do so! I miss :detecting: but all good things eventually come to an end and it seems mine has as far as MD'ing, but I still write poems for my Lord but not as often!

Happy Hunting and God Bless! Ma Betty
