Pinpointing with Safari stock coil. Were

Mississippi

New member
Is the X marks the spot? Front of the coil, half way down the coil or the middle of the coil. Just got one last week and trying to figure it out. Thanks.

I also have a Safari and use the 'wiggle' technique that Andy Sabisch describes in his book "Mastering the Minelab Quattro" chapter 3 (p23) There are other techniques he describes that deal with this subject and is well worth the read!

What part of the coil is most sensitive?

The center part of the coil from the bottom edge to the top edge is a narrow strip that is the most sensitive part of the coil.
Once you get a target, refer to page 24 of your Safari manual on how to pinpoint your target exactly.

I had a hard time pin pointing (pp) when I started. Seemed like the target would always be at the edge of my plug. I now wiggle to pp and then turn 90 degrees out and wiggle again. I then turn back 90 degrees to narrow it down even more. I seem to be centered a lot more since I started doubling back. The first pp the target could be anywhere on the 11 inch diameter. By going back you cut it down to the center. Did I explain that coherently?
Good luck,

Look thru the coil at object(weed, rock, stick, etc or place golf tee.Use that as your focal point is it locating more right or left up or down from that point adjust as needed after a while it will come to you and you will center with no problem detune if you can.I use this for other hot coil detector brands also.
