Pinpointing

When pinpointing with the stock coil do you have to dig the hole the size of the coil or dig the size of the hole in the middle of the coil this has probably been discussed but I was hoping for some advice Thanks

If pinpointed correctly you will find your target right in the very center of the coil. If it is not deep you can use a probe to retrieve it, if deep and you want to dig a hole make it as small as you can in order to find the target.

Jesse,

I can usually pinpoint down to the size of the coin itself. It just takes a few outings to find the sweet spot.

Sometimes a shallow target will be harder to pinpoint exactly. For very shallow targets lift your coil a couple of more inches off the ground. That may help. Also having more than one target under the coil can be a problem. Even if it's trash. Once you squeeze that trigger you're in all metal mode. But for a single target that's at least 2" below the surface you should not have to dig a hole any bigger than 4" across.

When I come across a iffy target, swing your cross and then rotate your body 90 degrees and swing your cross again. If your target is on a slight angle one way it's going to (show more) at another approach.Just my way at giving the relic a chance to see the sun unscaved. HH.
