Planning on getting the 10x12 and 15x12 SEF coils.. should I get the pro coil instead?

Hey everyone,

I was initially planning on selling my Explorer SE but I've decided to upgrade coils instead... that should get me to go a little deeper than I'm currently getting. I was tempted by the new Fisher F75 LTD, but I don't want to drop $1250 on a detector.

My question is... should I go with the 10x12 SEF or the pro coil? I can buy either one at exactly the same price. I know the SEF is a little heavier, but it doesn't seem that much heavier. It can't be heavier than my poorly balanced slim-line coil. Does the SEF coil really go deeper than the pro coil? Is it just as sensitive to small items?

here is a link http://www.findmall.com/read.php?19,1140862,1140862#msg-1140862 I think he sold his Pro coil as well :)

Just saw that thread. I think I made the right choice.

I ordered the SEF 10x12 and SEF 15x12. Will be here tomorrow :)

I bought the 15x12 for relic hunting out in the desert. I just need a little more depth to get the older stuff. I hope the weight isn't THAT bad. I think my current Slimline stock coil feels heavy because of the way it's balanced. I guess we'll see.

Both great coils but you will notice the extra weight if you hunt for extended periods. But then a lot of the machines we used 25-30 years ago were much worse and we survived,Ray.

When i first got my SE... i turned the basic coil around to change the balance. Any of the larget coils do an excellent job. Those large sunray coils are lighter and in someplace like the desert wouldnt have been a bad choice.
