Finally i have some photos of the plastic beach scoops. And Here they are. As you can see the small scoop clips on to the main scoop. The name of the game is to cover as much ground as there is plenty of detectorists also trying to get the goodies. The small piece of pipe sticking out of the main scoop i use to grid with. Also no kneeling down to get those deep targets.

Regards Pinpointa.

That is a great looking setup, pinpointa. I'm very impressed, and I'm wondering if you made it, or bought it somewhere. It looks very well made, very professional looking. I love the idea of having the best of both worlds, a long handled scoop, combined with the hand scoop, (all in one), and I assume it's pretty light being made of PVC. I've worked a little bit with PVC, and it seems very strong. It would have to be in order to withstand the water pressure in a pluming situation, I believe. Does the scoop stay in the holder pretty good when you use the long handle part? I assume it would, or you probably wouldn't be using it. That's a terriffic setup, and if you did design it yourself, you ought to go into production. I think you'd have a heck of a market. I might try and build one, but it looks tough in a few areas. I'm wondering where you'd get the grid part and how you'd put it in there. This could take some real thought. Thankyou again for sharing that with us, and especially me, cause you know I'm looking into the scoop thing these days.:|

Well beachguy i made them as the large scoop has a brother or it could be a twin sister my mate has something like it and added the little scoop to it. The main handle has a wooden shovel handle inside it to make it ridgid. The end is out of a plastic drain cover mounted inside the plastic end with the centre cut out. As far as it been durable it will be here when i am six foot under.
Regards Pinpointa.:super:

help dig big holes and shift beach sand without having to bend down. It's not meant to be a sieve more a "horizontal" shovel.

Good idea pinpointa

and PVC is quite strong and durable. I"ve used it to make fishing rod holders, each with a mug stuck to it to hold bait. A great idea Pinpointa!:)

pipointa,

Great job, I need to make something like this for my travels on the airlines that I can take for my carry on baggage. plastic has not been a issue so far so these would do the trick. What material did you use for your screen and handle on the small scoop, also what thickness is the handle for the large digger?
