I'm still learning my Explorer II which I purchased last season. Can anyone tell me how to detect up against or at least acouple of inches from playground swings, slides, benches, etc.?? I always get a loud tone from the metal posts, supports, ground braces, even the swings above my coil. What am I doing wrong or what can I do, or is there nothing I can do to adjust the Explorer II to get me up close? Thanks folks. I hope to learn how to post photos of my finds this year so I too, can share my excitement. Not to mention the coins or tokens I can't identify.

Try a smaller coil and lowering your sensitivity.

In this case, use the smallest coil in your arsenal. 4.5x7" Excelerators are great, 5" Stealth and 6" Excelerators too. Sometimes I even use my X-1 probe (works as a 1" coil) to search right next to the large chunks of metal. It works!
