I found this a few years back in a field rock hunting. It's unlike any other stone/rocks I usually find in my area. It's yellow/white with golden veins in it it seems? The outside is very smooth but there's a piece chipped off and the texture on the inside is more coarse or rough and white. The whole stone is pretty solid though, not crystally if you will. It almost reminds me of marble. I'm just not sure what it could be. Any ideas or answers would be appreciated!

Looks like quartzite. If it scratches glass then that’s pretty certain. In this case, as a metamorphic rock, I would guess the “gold“ veins are actually mica - probably muscovite. If the veins sort of glitter when you turn it, and if you can flake off tiny flat sheets by scratching at the vein with the corner of a screwdriver, then that would confirm it. Something else that could cause orange colored veins would be limonite – a hydrated iron oxide. It looks like you have surface iron staining already.
