I ordered a Platypus coil for the EX11 and 3 days later its here. Hats off to Doc's. Thanks for the fast service. I did a short hunt tonight to try it out and its sweet. The real test will come when I go back to the school house I found the lead cat head for the salt shaker at. I worked a deal where they gave me till the end of the year to work that sight again. This time I will cover it all and the neighbor has been notified I will be in their. So he will have to shut his dog up.
The ground is dry and hard here and the coil was still picking clad up from 8 to 10 inches. I think I like it!

Jim is the Platypus a lot lighter than the stock coil? I've been thinking about a Coiltek coil myself, and looking at the 5x10 Joey. Any reason you passed that one up? Thanks.

Hi
Good question. I guess the main reason was that I wanted to keep the wider sweep but still get between the trash. And that it does. So far I have found it easier to use than the stock coil. I can pin point faster using the method mentioned in the Sabbish book. Weight I was told is almost the same. And since its not off centered like the stock one, I find my arm does not ge tired as fast as it did before. I can also run it hotter than the stock one because it doesnt false as much. Before I bought it I sent Doc a couple of questions about it and he responded right back. I dont know what the difference would be except for size between the two. I hope that helped out.

Thank Jim that does help. One more question, does the Platypus go as deep as the stock coil in your opinion?

Hello
Right now it is dry and the ground is hard. I was still getting clad at 8 inches(not alot) and the few signals below that I didnt want to dig, to much work right now. I am waiting for the next good rain to take it out. The stock I would run about 18 for sens and this one I am running at 24 sens in manual. One small silver ring today and more clad and some funny square gold thing. The narrower coil makes it easier to pinpoint than the stock coil. And less fatigue with this coil. One draw back I have found out is that the machine does not balance on the metal rest under the batteries as easy as the stock one does. It tips when I set it down to dig most times. So far thats the only draw back to it. I carry my pin pointer in the opposite hand while detecting. Sometimes the 12 inch EQ2 coil would beep when I swept to that pinpointer side. So I walked with it behind my back. This coil is not affected by the pinpointer. Wednesday I will post some pics after I hit the old school house and the depths the stuff came up from.
