Is the pro pointer 2 better? Or the same as the carrot? Does it have the ground balance function like the carrot? I can't find any comparisons online.

Pardoe here's my take on it. I gave up the original GP for the GP AT (carrot). it was good but I didn't like the on off feature, I wanted it like the original which push of a button, so I sold it to my hunting buddy Waterdog. Its an excellent pinpointer overall though. Went and purchased the GP 2 and love it more. Yes you can ground balance it too.

Awesome, I have the carrot and I like it, I just didn't know if the 2 was better as far as detection goes or what the benefits were, and I was afraid they had removed the ground balance feature because of the cheaper price.

The detection on the GARRETT AT carrot is way better than the GP2, but because I mostly hunt surface stuff the GP 2 is perfect for my need/

Explain what you mean by ground balance with your pinpointer.

Before you turn on the pin-pointer, hold it in the dirt of the hole you are digging out
and then turn on wait a few seconds and now your ready and this should reduce
or help with any interference going on. That's all that's to it I believe...

They can both be ground balanced. The carrot has 3 sensitive settings, the Garrett II has only one. The carrot is water proof, the Garrett II is not.
