Poll: Is the F-75 LTD quiter than the first edition F-75?:fisher:

from the posts i have read here, and on other forums,it would appear that the (l.t.d) has better overall depth
in the ground, however it HAS been pointed out that if both detectors are used in a "park" hunting environment
"scrubbing" the coil on the ground, both detectors are basically "equal" in depth, with the "nod" going to the (l.t.d)
for a more "pronounced" audio quality, hit for hit!...apparently,this means that a (l.t.d) running in (b.p.) mode
will acquire a "coin shaped" target more clearly than a standard f-75 running in (d.e.) mode, however it is "further" pointed
out that the standard f-75 WILL still acquire the same coin shaped target, but at a "reduced" audio quality.i thought this was very interesting.
from all the posts i have read, the (l.t.d) handles (e.m.i) better than the standard f-75,and subsequently runs quieter over all!

(h.h.!)
j.t.

Yes the F75 is quieter in boost mode than other modes .
Don't know why as its more powerful and you would think more EMI but that is not the case.

I agree with j.t. as for depth on coin sized items.
Now hunt in high grass or over sticks and brush and its lights out, LTD all the way.

Hunting with a bud , he IDs a coin at 9inch mark and i run my new LTD over it and hit loud and clear
then say to my buds watch this as i raise the coil 3, 4 then 5 inches off the ground and still bang the coin .
It was a Wheaty at 9 inches.

I can also say in Boost mode verse say DE mode it will turn a faint no dug target into a dig me target.
This does not have to be at max depth as it can be a dime at 8 inches on edge .
If hunting in Boost mode and hold the red button down it will switch to DE mode making it
easy to recheck.

Good point gmanlight, that is a feature I truly love about the ltd,its simplicity of changing modes or process with the push of a boton as apposed to scrolling through the menu trying to make an adjustment....hh rick in mi.

The LTD in boost mode is definitely affected less by emi and runs quieter. I've got a couple of spots that would almost shut the F 75 down and can now hunt them with the LTD with a sen. of around 85...and as has been mentioned, deeper coins are better sounding. The boost mode is the real deal. HH jim tn

Are you hunting mostly in boost mode? Or just use it to check a deep signal? I am finding the deep mode is where I hunt most of the time.

while I feel that overall the LTD is a "bit" better in a high RF interference envoroment....its not always so. I'd like to point out also that a lot of the stuff some guys blame on interference is NOT interference.........but rather the F series machines extreme sensitivity on whats under the coil. I hunt in BP 99% of the time.......switching back to JE or DE only when there is a high concentration of salts in the ground. The BP mode will enhance the salts response...making your outing a trying one. In good soil its BP all the way! I also tend to run at max sensitivity most of the time too, as its got better target resolution at max sens. Oddly enough.....the F75/LTD actually runs smoother wide open lots of times......

Boost mode, yes, now all the time. That is not to say I don't check targets from time to time in de an je just to see how they hit and sound, but its the bp mode all the time. Another important thing with the F 75 and 75 LTD that doesn't get mentioned often enough is working with the frequency shift. A different frequency when emi is encountered more often then not will quiet the F's down. HH jim tn

Good point jmtn, you have mentioned it before, and I think its an option most people dont use or forget about, atleast I dont hear it mentioned much.I have tried it more then once and it does work!!...hh rick in mi.

Jim you are correct,.I am guilty of this because i don't have a lot of EMI problems
i usually just Senc down a little and work around it.
NASA Tom has a interesting article on Freq shift
