In a couple weeks at our annual church meeting, my name will be on the ballot for the church board. (Deacon) I served for 7 years, then had 3 years off.
Please pray for His will in my life. If elected, I will serve Him, if not I still will! <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

I'm currently on my third rotation as Deacon. We serve for three years and have to take one off, but we still serve! God Bless!

Sure thing Mike... I've been down that road myself. Even though I've been heavily involved in the music ministry for well over 10 years, I've been asked to be an Elder. My first response was YES!!! But after some thought and prayer I realized that I just couldn't do it. As you know, it requires a great deal of time and it is an awesome responsibility. I couldn't possibly accept such a position knowing that, because of my work schedule and the time involved in my ministry, I wouldn't be able to give 100%. One day, should the good Lord open the door, I'll do it.
All the best to you Mike. I'm sure the Lord will use someone like you for many great works... all for His Glory!

I served 3 as a deacon, and 4 as an elder, then took 3 years off. Maybe the time is right again?

...and that's the way it should be!
Just came back from our Church business meeting... what a difference since we got our new Senior Pastor. An absolute pleasure to go to. The ones in prior years, I'm ashamed to say, were not very good (or should I say Godly). Too many people looking for their own agenda and not God's. Too much anger. Thankfully all of those people are gone now.
Pastor Ed has been incredible. Unbelievable sermons, leading, teaching and direction; the church is growing, people are giving more... I know God has some big plans for our church. It's a very exciting time! Praise God!
There's one particular sermon that I'm trying to get a CD of that I'd love to send to all of you. Probably one of the best sermons I've ever heard in my 20 years as a Christian. "How to Know God's will in your life".
Take care brother and keep your heart open to His speaking to you!
Joe

My advise is to ask the Lord for guidance, he will direct you to where He wants you to be. If you feel led to serve again, you will know if He's pointing you in the direction to go! God Bless!
