Prayers Please For A Missing Prospector

C. Nyal de Kaye

New member
A man who is unknown to me, Mick Graham, went missing in Western Australia two weeks ago tomorrow (Sunday Australian time). He left his bush camp for just an hour or so of prospecting, got turned around somehow, and was unable to return to camp. He had no water with him as he was not expecting to be away for more than an hour or two. Leaving all criticisms aside, the man is lost. A search began on the second day and has continued since then.

It is mid-summer in Australia and the temperatures in that area are ranging from 32 degrees Celsius (about 90 F) to 42C which is about 107F. Very hot, not much shade and no people for 100's of miles. It is a very remote spot. Rainfall is rare in that area but there has been some rain over the last week. Three days ago a farmer inspecting his "well" (the well is really a bore that pumps water into a trough for his cattle) saw that the trough had been cleaned out. No one but a human could do it. Looking about he saw an SOS dug into the dirt and found an item of clothing later identified as being Mikes clothing.

Later they found other signs written on the tracks and it seems that Mick might be following the track. The farmer has pointed out that most of the tracks only go to the boundary fences and so following them will be useless. However these finds have given new hope to the family and the searchers. About now, as I write this, another group of prospectors, familiar withe the area, are about to set out on quad bikes and join the police and other search groups. This group have been hindered from joining the search until now but will today be in the action. I know some in this new group and they are pretty competent people. My hopes are high that they will find him and we all hope and pray that he will be saved today.

Please pray for the search groups, for Mick and his wife Helen. Helen is the woman on the left and is shown with her sister.
