Pre-Revolutionary War Farmhouse

I took my trusty old Ultra GTA500 to an old farm site. This farmhouse was taken down board by board and the lumber recycled for reuse. I managed to find this broken axe head which was buried about eight inches deep. As you can see it is well worn and must have broken on the down swing by the way it split.

The top photos are the before with all the rust encrusted on it. In the after pictures you can see that this was a well used axe. There are chips and dings all over it, a typical farmers tool.

I also found what I thought was a part of a door bell, but turned out to be a washer. I also found this part of a toy gun which I thought was interesting. I
 
I wonder how much wood that old ax has cut?? Nice finds indeed!
 
It is amazing when you think of all the history behind something like this. I try to envision the family who lived there and actually touched these objects. It just boggles the mind!

My allergies have been playing havoc with me
the last several weeks so I havn't been out for awhile.
