Preferred tropical destination for detecting what would you pick

Howard Snell

New member
I'm going somewhere next February but don't know where.
I will be doing allot of detecting and drinking and eating. But for the detecting part what's the best destination?

1.Maui Island Walie (May not be spelled right)
2.Waikiki
3.Caymans
4.Antigua

I'm running a Ctx 3030 if that helps but it should work anywheres.

From my experience:
Waikiki has way too much competition for water and beach finds but also has the most activity.
Wailea is on the south west side of Maui and has the most expensive accomodations/wealthy clientele. They also have some very nice beaches on the ocean side of the resorts but you have to find the "Public Beach Access" parking areas. All beaches in Hawaii are open to the general public.

Not sure how long your going to go for? A month? Those are all great locations but.........those locations will cost lots of $$. I spend a couple of months in Mexico during the year. I am happy with the finds I come home with. Here is my post from this year.......... http://www.findmall.com/read.php?26,1893687,1893687#msg-1893687

The other tip I have is the Palm Trees will look the same in all of those locations.............

Howard, I've been to Antigua and found it to be the least hunted place I've been. Lots of targets and short on sand. The targets were in crushed seashells and not too easy to scoop. Water clarity wasn't what I expected but can't complain about the eating and drinking.
good luck where ever you go!

Grand Cayman--7 mile beach--say hi to Southern Style if you go

I tried to hunt 7-mile beach last spring with my Excalibur, but the shallow water was too sanded in. I finally picked up a few targets at the towel line, but there were no targets in the water, even at low tide.

That must mean I'm doing a good job.
