Well I am liking my MXT better every day. I went up to the middle school and elementry and found 41 pennys,7 dimes, 3 nickles,1 quarter,2 tokens(from a resturant over in Tulsa)1 small silver ring, and a little childs toy ring. Thats not counting all the junk, nails, pull tabs, cans, and all kinds of foil. I found out if the MXT said 1C 3in. deep you need to believe it. The nickles reading, most of the time, was foil.

Oh I forgot 2 hot wheels cars. All the money was new money. How do you guys get the smilleys on the subject line? Also what is the best way to clean coins?

put you mouse over the smiley that you want to use
and it will display what to do. That's it. Again,
good finds. HH Richard'nTn

Fat Boy,
I use to use a long nose pliers with a 6 inch fine wire wheel on my grinder. Worked pretty good on pennies and clad. The problem is that it take too long. About 2-3 beers worth...
Since then Rick ND turned me on to the idea of using a rock tumbler for coins. I bought a Lortone double barrel unit. It comes with two 3 lb drums. I use one for pennies and the other for clad. You can tumble about 180 coins between the two tumblers at one time. I save my coins until I get about 120 and then fill the drums about half full with small gravel, add the coins and fill with water to just below the rock and add some lemon juice for a mild acid bath. I let them run for three hours and they come out looking pretty good. How'd I do Rick? .....
If your interested email me and I will give you a couple of sources. I bought mine from KellyCo. but they gave me a ration of shxx over the unit when I had some trouble with it when it was only four months old. It was a Christmas gift and wasn't used three times but to KellyCo common since made no difference, they wouldn't send me a replacement since it was 3-4 weeks out of their 90 day warranty.
I called one of their distributors and they were super. My preference is to refer you to the old couple that helped me. Possibly they can match KellyCo's price. They could use the money more anyway.

The copper and new zinc Pennies will clean faster and find a hour to a hour and a half does a good job, but some of the clad will take a good 3 hours. I will sometimes check them after a hour and a half and take out the good ones and put the bad ones back on for another couple of hours.
You did a good job of explaining it Johnny and the lemon juice I get is from Sams club as they have 2 of the 1 1/2 quarts for $5.17 (was $4.95) so you get 3 quarts of the Real Lemon juice that will last for a while of coin cleaning.
