Pro coil information needed

straker

I just got a like new SE Pro. It came with the skimpy coil cover that doesn't enclose the entire bottom. I was wondering if Minelab ever did anything to strengthen the coil ears or do i have to be careful not to put any stress on them?

No, I’m not aware they ever did anything to strengthen the stock ears.
Although I will say I hunt as much as most and have never snapped any ears of any the countless Explorer series detectors I have owned.

I remember seeing someone using a Pro coil on a beach years ago and broke one of the ears off. Just wondered if this was common?

It hasn’t been a problem with my Explorer either. If a person were to look at the ones over time that DID break one would likely find rubber washers missing, bolts tightened WAY too much or a person who just flat out abuses the machine in some way. I’ve got at LEAST 1,000 hours on my Explorer and not one coil problem to speak of.

Thanks for the replies. If i find that the coil is a little loose after i tighten the coil bolt,i'll look into adding thin spacers.
