Pro-Pointer glitch for me too.

After my last hunt, I cleaned off my Pro-Pointer and set it by my 2500 ready for my next hunt. I turned it on last night to look for a wall stud and it beeped when I turned it on and the light came on. Sadly, it would not detect metal not even a can or a lamp. I was pretty miffed. I tried new batteries. Nothing. I thought back to the last time I used it. I had gotten it very dirty and I gave it a good shower. I removed the cap and the battery and placed it on a radiator in my house to thoroughly dry it out in case I had held it under running water for too long. An hour later I installed a battery and it was working again. I air tested a dime and got an inch. The very first air test I did when I bought it got me 1.25 inches on a clad dime. I left it on the radiator (warm not hot) all night. This morning I air tested a dime and got 1.5 inches. I hunted for two hours this morning and it worked better than ever. I plan on keeping a very close eye on it now. I don't know exactly what happened or why. I assume I got water in it by scrubbing it under running water for too long. I use it every hunt for roughly 50 percent of my finds. I reckon she's found around 2000-2500 pieces of metal and I would not detect without mine.

My hunt today was at the local sled hill. Found 51 coins plus a mess of bullets and pop tops in two hours and like I said my Pro-Pointer worked better than ever. No more running water for mine except for a very quick rinse.

I am tumbling my first batch of clad in 2009 as I write this. 200 quarters. I am 184 coins from 1000 in 2009. I am going to try to hit that goal on Sunday. Last year I hit 1000 coins on April 5th.

No pictures. Just a lot of dirty clad.

One other funny thing from today. I put a my big jug of water in my truck yesterday. Holds 5 gallons and I use it for washing up in the field. Of course it froze solid last night. Luckily I had left lots of room for expansion.

Seriously. I got used to really scrubbing it down with a toothbrush. I was really bummed at the thought of being without it for a week while it was off for repair.

Hope your snow melts soon and I hope I don't have to wait as long as you did last year for my first gold this year although it has been since last September for me. An eternity.
