Pro Pointer Problem

dirtydon

New member
My Pro Pointer is acting up. I usually get about 3.5 inch responce with a quarter on an air test. It's been gradually decreasing to about1.2 inch. I've tried a few new 9 v batteries with the same result. Any suggestions? I don't know if there is any repairing to them.

Mine was acting weird. Tried new batteries with no help. Sometimes it worked sometimes not. Sometimes it just beeped on it's own. I then noticed the foam under the cap that pushes against the battery was partially gone. So I stuck a quarter inside the cap to press the battery down and it's been running strong for over a year now. I'll bet this is all you need to do.

wow great tip! It made mine go deeper. thank you for the post

How much deeper was it after the Quarter install? Mine has never givin me a problem. were U having problems with it before or is the quarter a boost ?

I love my Pro Pointer would not go with out it. I liked the Quater Idea if I have a problem will try that thanks

Every now and again i have to turn mine off and on as it doesn't detect metal for some reason,as soon as i turn it back on it is fine.

I have been having problems with mine also. The button has a short in it.I have to press it 4 or 5 times for it to stay on.Gonna buy me a new one I think

Mine has always done that if I do not get the timing down just right when turning it on. Hold it too long and it beeps and turns off. You need to release the button as soon as you hear the beep. Once I got the feel for the timing, I don't have any problems unless I get sloppy :)

You could always tape two dimes and a nickel

I just sent mine in today to Garrett, it was strange sometimes it would beep as normal and the next minute you could not hear the beep but feel the vibration. My wife has one and I can hear hers from 20 feet away but not hear mine!

I got my Pro Pointer back today and it looks like they just replaced it at no charge! Sounds awesome now!! I am a happy camper! :jump:
