Pro-Pointer Problems? Anyone having any?

Bought mine shortly after they came out and found it to be a great recovery tool, in fact better than the one I replaced it with. Just before the freeze came on it started chirping and ticking when not in the hole and I did noise cancel it against my machine. Still did the same thing. I contacted Garrett and they were very fast at responding to my email. It was suggested that maybe a fresh battery would take care of it, so when the thaw came I replaced the battery and still the ticking and chirping was persistent and no it was not coming from the little birds overhead:lol: I contacted Garrett again and was told to send it back for a replacement.
So my question to any of the Pro-Pointer users is, Are any of you experiencing anything like this as well?

This isn't a thread to start a bash, but just being curious.

Thanks
DJH

I used mine yesterday with my Ace 250. I didn't have any problems with it. So far it has worked real well. I haven't even used my Vibra Probe 570 since I bought the Garrett. I might have to use it just so it won't get jealous. I will keep using my Garrett with my F75. If I have any problems with mine I will post them here. I am still on my first battery as well. Probably have about 8-10 hours of use on it.

i got mine right after it came out and it will start chirping when i lay it down while still on why i clean out the hole it keeps chipping when i pick it up i have to turn it off then back on

Mine did the same, but after awhile it would start chirping almost as soon as I would turn it on. I did notice that it would chirp when I laid it on the ground while cleaning the hole out also, but I put that off as mineralization or what have you. Oh well, I sent mine in and hopefully I will get the replacement by the first ofthe week.

Haven't had any such problems and I field tested the prototype and the production model and use one all the time. You must have gotten an oddball out of the bunch.

Bill.

Go figure, I would be the one with the issue:lol: Bound to be one here and there and I am sure Garrett will take care of me as I have been in contact with them. Just wanted to see if I was the only one.

Oh they'll take excellwent care of you. With all the PP's they're pumping out there's bound to be a zinger in the bunch somewhere and you lucked out and got it. :)

Mine will chirp sometimes when I lay it down but only once did I have to turn it off then back on to shut it up.:garrett:

I'm am sure they will take good care of me. Their customer service is excellent. I had sent an email on Sunday and got a reply Monday morning before I had got to work.
Thanks for your replies Bill

That's what happened with mine. I would turn it off and then back on. That would clear it up for awhile, but then it start back up again. Mine ended up being more constant than sporadic though.

To be completley honest with everyone, I think the "ticking/chirping" is getting worse. Shutting mine off and turning it back on still works on mine. I absolutly love it it! I would sure hate to go without it even if it were for an exchange!:garrett:
