Pro/Scoop water scoop? Opinions

Sand Scoop

New member
I'm looking for a new water scoop and came across Pro/Scoop made by Pro Stock metal detectors. Its stainless has square holes with wooden handle. Can anyone who has used this scoop give me their opinion of the scoop. I'm considering the large model for the water but would also use it on the beach where the digging gets pretty tough at times.

haven't used this one but for a heavy duty near indestructable scoop get a NUTTALLS-its the absolute best long handled scoop I have ever used

I've used the older version with drilled holes. It drains ok in the water. If there isn't a lot of water flow through it, it has to be carried to land and dumped. The new one with square holes looks more promising for wider usage.

Here are a couple of threads on scoops that include the scoop you are looking at:

Hello,

I use the medium size pro-scoop. It is still my favorite scoop for most situations although I have had another scoop custom made that is similar to it but narrower yet. I have not had enough experience with the newer one to know if it will become my favorite. But it is trending that way.

I also own a Nuttall. The Nuttall does not work that well in most of my conditions because of its v shape. A lot of the targets I find here in the Northwest lay on a bed of clay under an armor of rocks, sand, and gravel. So I need a scoop that has more area parallel with the bottom, with the wider flatter front end on the Pro-Scoop I have a better chance at first scoop retrieval then with most other scoops. The Pro-Scoop fits that criteria perfectly. The newer one with the smaller square punched holes works great and drains quick. When I get in ;larger rock or gravel I use a floating sifter just like the one in Clive's book "Water Hunting Secrets of the Pros" on pages 81-83. Joe at DeMarco detectors carries the book or you can get them direct from Clive. (He signs them too!)

If I was in deep sand with small shell and gravel in the matrix I would probably use the Nuttall more often but I am not. I am stuck with this beautiful green Northwest environment!

Best Regards.
Steve

Well all I can add is that ALL my hunting partners have opne made by Pro Stock. I have used one and love it ONLY when I am NOT diving. They are VERY sturdy and a wonderful scoop. I know of 4 of them with myu friends at this moment

I make and I work here so scoop

stavr...for those of us who don't know or want to do the metric conversions, it would be nice to see the non-metric dimensions and weight in a format that's easy to read. It would be much easier to make comparisons with those built in a 'non-metric' country. Jim

Nuttall makes a VERY strong scoop. I crank on that fiberglass handle with a lot of force when deep in wet sand and it performs. Make sure you get his grab handle or something to help free the scoop head under suction in deep digs.

handle not included
landing size of 30 mm = 1,81''
