probes what s inside them ?

hi all im v been interested in how probes work latly and curios about them like the sov. probes the ones that use the pvc as a housing im thinking of trying to build me a probe but i dont know whats inside the probe housing and it cost to much to tear on apart so how are they built like a small coil wires and expoxy and info helpful larry
 
Hi Larry,
you would find it cheaper in the long run to buy a ready made Sun Ray probe, because to experiment with winding coils and getting the correct balance, cables & switching needs use of an oscilloscope and you also risk killing off your prized detector if there was a short or wrong impedance to the coil output stage.
