Proper battery pack installation on GTAx550

I recently aquired a GTAx 550, and the machine visually appears to be in EX. shape. It was missing the left side battery door and left battery pack. Garrett sent me new battery packs and a new left door. NOWHERE on this machine can I find a battery installation diagram.......So, I look into the battery pack cavity, and see that one terminal oriface is larger than the other, so I ASSUME that the "crown"-shaped connector inserts into that spot??? No power.........The touch-pad buttons don't seem to "give" when you push them, either. I can't get the machine to do anything. Any help will be appreciated before I send the unit to Garrett for repair. Thanks......

OK......I'll try another approach to my question. I know how the batteries go into the battery packs. That's self-explanatory. My question is......How do the battery packs fit into the machine? This is really tough!!!!!!

The battery packs only go in one way. The silver hole in the top of the pack always faces up and facing the earphone jack. If you look down in the compartment you can see the battery contacts - one large - one small - which is more than self-explanatory.
