I have Ex2 with stock and now the new Platypus coils. I noticed several posts saying the PP was slightly better than the stock, better balance, etc. I have read the posts about 10" deep coins etc. Used all the options discussed on this forum at one time or other, and I am a pretty solid, experienced detectorist. It has proven near impossible to dig coins over 7 inches in central KY soil. I've got two locations that have yielded half dime, seated, musket balls, etc, but not over 7 inches deep. I've gone back to them and other hot spots with 6 different machines and set ups over a period of 12 years. They yield almost nothing now and I keep going back just to see if I can dig anything below 7 inches. Can't do it. The Explorer gets more than the others but below 7 inches it just ain't there. Somebody tell me how to set up to dig coins over 7 inches deep in black, rich, horse country soil. What would you expect to do with a 15" WOT in the super clean areas that have given up civil war era finds in the past? Does Doc maybe have a coil recommendation for these areas? Is it possible this area just doesn't give it up?
